This dataset consists of .ASCII files used in the analysis of snow distribution patterns within forest stands and their relation to canopy-structural characteristics presented in Mazzotti et al. (2019) The datasets are organized in the three folders 'Snow depth', 'Canopy height' and 'Terrain elevation' corresponding to the data type. Each folder contains ASCII files for the same three field areas Davos, Engadine and Grand Mesa. Each of these includes an area of approx. 0.5km2, but note that the Davos and Grand Mesa data consists of two sub-areas, labelled '1' and '2', respectively. Note also that the folder 'Snow depth' contains data from two different dates for each field area.
